Methacrylates are widely used in printed circuit board coatings (conformal coatings) providing them with increased resistance to attack, thereby prolonging their service life. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is commonly used in cell phones, primarily in the construction of the phone’s display screen. PMMA is used as a protective cover for solar panels due to its light transmission properties, high UV resistance and durability. PMMA is sometimes used as a component in printer toner and ink.
